Airmed Identity Tutorial

This tutorial shows how to create public and private keys to share files securely on the Airmed Foundation platform. All the options are in the Tools button at the top right corner of the navigation bar

Create a new identity

  1. Press the Identities button, this shows a drop down menu. Select the New option.

  2. Press the Generate button to create a new key pair.

A new identity within the Airmed Foundation network is then created. This identity consists of a private key and a public key. Both are cryptographic keys created using the RSA system. We use the private key to both encrypt and decrypt files associated with an individual. We use the public key to identify this person or entity. We can generate the public key from the private key. A private key is to be kept SECRET, as it is what allows a person to access encrypted files on the network.

Upload an encrypted file

  1. Select the Upload File button.

  2. Select a file with the Choose a file button or dragging the file to this area.

  3. Proceed to check the option Encrypt file. Then two inputs will be displayed, the first one mustpress contain the private key of the user who is uploading the file. This allows us to validate his identity.

  4. After filling the fields, we select the Upload button.

  5. After uploading the file, you will be given the hash of the Blockchain transaction and the encrypted IPFS Hash. The IPFS hash will be needed to recover this file

Download an encrypted file

  1. Select the Download File button.

  2. You will have to put the encrypted hash generated when * uploading the file. Specify that the file is encrypted and then put your private key in the input field. After filling the fields, press the search button.

  3. If the entered data is correct, the file to download will appear listed. Select the download button.

List all sent and received files
  1. Select the Identities button, this shows a drop-down menu. Here select the Files option.

  2. After selecting the Files option, you will have to write your public or private key in the input field and press the search button.

  3. Then two tables are displayed. One has the hashes of the files sent and another has the hashes of the files received.

Recover public key

If, for any reason, you lose your public key you can recover it through your private key.

  1. Select the Identities button, this shows a drop-down menu. Here select the Recovery option.

  2. You must place your private key in input and press the recover button.

  3. After pressing the button, your public key is then displayed.
